What is SpaceArchive?

SpaceArchive.net is an archive containing hundreds of images pertaining to manned space exploration, from the early Mercury to Apollo-Soyuz missions.

Each image is downloadable at the best quality now available, and is accompanied with the shot information, such as mission, date on which the photo was taken or released, title, description, etc.

Great attention was paid to provide a good search engine, with many search filters that allow good performance.

SpaceArchive.net is always in search for new pictures not yet present on the archive so, if you are in possession of images that can't be found in SpaceArchive.net, do not hesitate to contact me or e-mail me a good scan accompanied with all available data for the image.

Many pictures were restored by me, restoring the original colors, enhancing the contrast, removing scrubs, scratches and dust maks. I hope that this work helps to remember in the best way the epic of space exploration and the men who were involved.

Search tips

By default, SpaceArchive only returns records that include the exact phrase typed in the search box. There is no need to include the words between ' " '.

To obtain the records that contain all the words in your query, insert a " % " between the terms. For example, a search for "apollo % launch" will return both "Apollo 12 launch" and "Launch of Apollo 11".

In the future, it is possible that other search features will be added.

Collaborating

SpaceArchive.net is a big project, with hundreds of images, and each one in need of a description. Working together, we can greatly increase the speed of completing the archive.

Anyone can simply and easily collaborate with this project by reporting errors in the database or broken links. Email at info@spacearchive.net.

You can also send me an English description for the images that still lack one. Every description can help with the completion of this project. Also, every image needs to be dated.

In a following step, my dream is to provide a translation of the archive into other languages. I will probably work on the Italian version, but other guys will be required for the translation into other languages. If someone is interested in offering assistance, please email me.
