Apollo 8 prime crew in foreground as spacecraft leaves VAB on way to pad

The Apollo 8 prime crew stand in the foreground as the Apollo 8 (Spacecraft 103/Saturn 503) spacecraft leaves the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) on way to Pad A, Launch Complex 39. The Saturn V stack and its mobile launch tower are atop a crawler-transporter. The Apollo 8 crew consists of (left to right) Astronauts Frank Borman, commander; James A. Lovell Jr., command module pilot; and William A. Anders, lunar module pilot. (Source: JSC)
